Description:
Sound installation at Arretxinaga’s Chapel (Xemein, Basque Country), built around a megalithic formation from the eocene. Sounds recorded in a stone quarry near the village were used for this work. Markina-Xemein is famous for exporting a black marble used for decorative purposes. This kind of stone is cutted with a special diamond wire, which finally became part of the installation at the chapel.
The sounds were recordings of the machinery employed during the process of cutting and extracting the black stone, the frequencies of which were also replicated by PAD synthesizers.
